CATHOLIC DAILY DEVOTIONAL 15TH FEBRUARY 2022

TODAY’S TOPIC: HOW QUICKLY WE FORGET

SCRIPTURE: And do you not remember, when I broke the five loaves for the five thousand, how many wicker baskets full of fragments you picked up? – Mark 8:18-19

It’s easy to laugh at the disciples as we recall the well-known story of Jesus feeding 5,000 people. Like Jesus, we shake our heads and wonder: How could they forget such a thing? Silly disciples, we think.

And yet, how often do we forget how God has worked in our lives and find ourselves praying the equivalent of, “but what have you done for me lately?” Silly followers we are too, even with the evidence of God’s love piled around us—baskets and baskets of memories, each telling us a story of God working a miracle of healing or sustenance in us.

It’s time to gather the fragments and remember the unfailing giver. – Steve Givens
