TOPIC: My Personal Encounter With Jesus

SCRIPTURE: You are the Christ. – Mark 8:29

I sometimes wonder how it is that we can truly know the Lord, have faith in him and love him. We do not actually meet him as we would another person. Yet we are filled with an inescapable conviction of who Jesus is.

In today’s Gospel, Peter says without hesitation, “You are the Christ.” How could he know that unless he had a deep personal encounter with Jesus? So, too, our faith is based on our own interior encounter with Jesus.

Take a moment and search your own heart. Are you aware of this grace inside you? Can you say to Jesus, like Peter did, “You are the Christ”?

Heavenly Father, thank you for the gift of faith. Like Peter, I say with confidence that Jesus is the Christ. Strengthen this faith so that I might give courageous witness to your Son this day and every day.
