This verse captures the very heart of the Gospel. The Apostle Paul the Apostle explains the divine exchange that took place through Jesus Christ.
Jesus, who knew no sin, took upon Himself the burden of humanity’s sin — not because He deserved it, but because we did. On the cross, He bore what was ours so we could receive what was His: righteousness before God.
This means:
You are not defined by your past mistakes.
You are not accepted by God based on performance.
You stand before God clothed in Christ’s righteousness.
Righteousness is not earned — it is received. It is a gift of grace.
