Acts 1:8 (NIV): “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”
Message: Empowered to Witness
Acts 1:8 is a foundational promise and commissioning from Jesus to His disciples just before His ascension. He doesn’t send them out in their own strength—He promises power. This power isn’t political influence or human ability, but the supernatural power of the Holy Spirit.
The Holy Spirit equips us to be witnesses—to testify boldly of who Jesus is and what He has done. From their immediate context in Jerusalem to the ends of the earth, the disciples were called to carry the Gospel with authority, boldness, and love.
This verse is not just historical—it is prophetic. It still speaks to us today: we are empowered to be witnesses. Your life, your voice, and your testimony are tools in God’s hand to reach nations.
