Read and Meditate on Today’s  Scripture Union Daily Guide for Monday 10 October 2022. May the Lord bless you through His Word, Amen!

SCRIPTURE UNION DAILY GUIDE DEVOTIONAL 10 OCTOBER 2022

Topic: Relationship With God, The Most Important Thing!

Opening Prayer: Open my eyes O Lord that I might behold wondrous things from your word in Jesus name.

Scripture: 2 Chronicles 7:11‐22

Question(s) for Reflection
• What does the passage teach about God the Father, or God the Son or God the Holy Spirit?
• Is there any warning for me to heed?

“Finishing is better than starting” (Ecclesiastes 7:8a, NLT). Following through to the end on the assignment God has given you is an indicator of your seriousness, devotion, commitment and love for God. Solomon was focused, ignoring distractions to ensure he completed God’s temple excellently well using his God‐given wisdom. God is always willing to bless, but the conditions must be met. Outline these conditions (v.14).

Observe that God was speaking to His people, the covenant people. The land that needs healing is described in v.13. This applies to a community, state or nation with economic, social or political problems. There can be spiritual problems also. Vs.17‐20 show how a leader is the representative of his people. What he does may affect his people positively or negatively.

Like the promise to the nation, there was a condition attached to the personal promise to the king (vs.17‐18). The rejection and destruction of the temple would be one of the disasters that followed disobedience and idolatry (vs.21‐22). It is unfortunate that these prophetic warnings (vs.19‐22) later went unheeded beginning with Solomon himself (1 Kings 11:1‐13). Later, the people were carried into exile and the Temple destroyed.

Practice/Word Application
And so: Beware, God is no respecter of persons. Watch your relationship with God very diligently (Ephesians 5:15, NIV).

• Any new insight or reinforcement of what you already know?

Closing Prayer
• Help us, Father, to walk before you in daily obedience to your word.

Offer a prayer of faith in line with
Philippians 4:6 ‐ 7; Malachi 3, 4; Job 28
