Read and Meditate on Today’s  Scripture Union Daily Guide for Monday 12 September 2022. May the Lord bless you through His Word, Amen!

Topic: Focus on God In The Midst of Corruption

Opening Prayer: Dear Lord, I pray that you order my steps today through your word as I meditate on it.

Scripture: Micah 7:1‐20

Question(s) for Reflection
• What does the passage teach about God the Father, or God the Son or God the Holy Spirit?
• Is there any prayer for me to remember?

Micah paints a dismal picture of the social, moral and spiritual condition of Jerusalem. The picture of a poor person looking for summer fruits to gather (v.1) points to God looking for people who are upright in the city. The city has become so morally and spiritually bankrupt that it was so difficult to find any righteous person.

Read vs.2‐6 again. How does this compare with the level of moral decadence and corruption in our society today? See also 2 Timothy 3:1‐5. What do you notice about Micah in the midst of the prevailing corruption (v.7)? The level of corruption and moral decadence in our time has made many believers to give up hope of any possible change.

They have succumbed to, “if you can’t beat them, join them” syndrome. But like Micah, we should be hopeful and continue to plead for divine intervention (v.14), resting on the truth that only at Christ’s second coming will there be real solution to the problems of our world (vs.7‐13). What attributes or characters of God can you see in vs.15‐20?

• Any new insight or reinforcement of what you already know?

Closing Prayer
• Thank God for the goodness and mercy He has extended to you. Pray for those who are yet to take advantage of His mercy that is still available, that they will do so today.

Offer a prayer of faith in line with
Deuteronomy 10:18; Ezekiel 40‐42
