Outline For Scripture Union Daily Guide 23 January 2024
Our God is no respecter of persons. The same judgment formula that was used for the six Gentile nations was also applied to Israel and Judah, the people of God. We find it easier and maybe more comfortable to expose and rebuke the sins of others, particularly unbelievers but gloss over our own. Not so with Amos. He pointed out the same sins in the people of God: sins such as lies (v.4), injustice against the poor (vs.6,7), sexual immorality (v.7) and idolatry (v.8). God reminds them of how He saved them from their enemies (vs.9-12). Therefore, a walk with God based on gratitude for what He, through Christ, has done for us should characterize how we live our lives as Christians. The way we comport ourselves should not be a hindrance to other believers.

Closing Prayer
Dear Lord, help me not to rationalize sin in my life or the life of other believers but to acknowledge my sins and be truly grateful for all you have done to save me.
Offer a prayer of faith in line with Job 36:11
If they obey and serve him, they shall spend their days in prosperity, and their years in pleasures.”
