• What does the passage teach about God the Father, or God the Son or God the Holy Spirit?
• Is there any warning for me to heed?

God’s command to Noah was “be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth” (9:1), but these people show complete disregard and disobedience to God’s command (vs.3,4).

Firstly, they sought to stay together instead of spreading out and filling the earth.
Secondly, they wanted to build a tower to go and see where God was staying.
Thirdly they wanted to make a name for themselves! They were seeking their own glory. What an affront to God!

Why did God decide to confuse these people (vs.6‐7)? What projects do we engage in today that would be the same as building the Tower of Babel? Look around and listen to what people are boasting about today, you will notice that many do not acknowledge God in their undertakings.

Anything that we do that takes God’s place in our hearts is a Tower of Babel. It could be building a house, a business, a nice and expensive car, positions of power, or a well‐known spouse. Do you have a tower of Babel of your own? When these cause us to be proud and not put God in his rightful place, then we are taking God’s glory, Isaiah 42:8; 1 Corinthians 10:31.
