It is amazing how God guided Jacob. He arrived at the exact town, at the right location (the well) and at the correct time (vs.1‐6). When God takes the lead, He provides you the map and the compass for the journey, and makes the journey straight and easy. Observe the way Jacob opened up conversation with the shepherds (v.4). Asking questions is a skill that we all need in the work of missions and witnessing.

As we meet new people, we must trust God to give us the appropriate questions to open conversations that will lead to gospel presentation. Probably, the divine guidance that Jacob enjoyed that day was also responsible for Rachel, who would later become the love of his life, being the first person he met among his relatives. When God leads us, he takes care of every aspect of our lives, even when we are not aware of it.

The shepherd exhibited teamwork to achieve their common goal (v.7). We need partners and collaborators in the pursuit of the work of God (cf. Ecclesiastes 4:9‐12).
