• What truth is God revealing to me in this passage?
Scripture Union Daily Guide 30 March 2022 Devotional | Outline
This short narrative is the account of how Adam and his wife disobeyed God’s command as given in Genesis 2:17. In a very strange way, the woman found herself confronted with an alternative suggestion from the serpent in the Garden of Eden. This suggestion clearly conflicted with what God said. In life, all humans are usually faced with such opposing ideas.
It is always important to ask, “What is God’s word on this issue?” What informed the choice which the woman made? See v.6.
Now read 1 John 2:15‐17. Identify three things that war against our souls and observe how as early as the time of Adam and Eve, these lustful desires have blinded humans to make choices contrary to God’s word. Read v.7 and find the consequences of Adam and his wife disobeying God’s instructions. How did they attempt to cover their nakedness? Read also Revelations 12:9 and identify the serpent that deceived Eve and Adam and has continued to deceive the whole world.
But 1 John 3:8 assures us that Jesus, the Son of God, has destroyed the works of the devil. To overcome the devil and his lies you need Christ Jesus in your life. Have you received Him and yielded your entire life into His hands? If not, do so now.
Practice/Word Application
