Question(s) for Reflection
• What truth is God revealing to me in this passage?

Scripture Union Daily Guide 6 April 2022 Devotional | Outline

Do you recognise that the words found in v.1 have been used elsewhere in the gospels? They are very heavy words. No doubt, you may have found yourself in a similar situation at some point. I have. Many of us have at some point or another wondered how things could have turned the way they did if God was there with us. It could be in a case of loss of a loved one, loss of a job, diagnosis of a terminal disease, a divorce or any adverse experience that may have come along one’s way.

It is possible that because of our faith we can be called names to the extent that we begin to doubt our sanity (vs.6‐8). If God fills the heavens and the earth (Jeremiah 23:24), how can He abandon us for a moment? God has always remained faithful (vs.3‐5, 9‐10). Even at times of difficulty, it is necessary to pause and remember the good testimonies about our God. Tough and difficult times are part of being made what God wants us to be (Romans 8:28; 1 Peter 4:12‐13).

Practice/Word Application
So what? It must have been the most painful moment for Jesus to have cried to God, at the time when the sin of the world was upon Him and He had to suffer as a sacrifice on behalf of all mankind (John 27:46). Reflect on this and thank Him for so great a sacrifice.

• Any new insight or reinforcement of what you already know?

Closing Prayer
• Father, please in your mercy hear my cry and answer all my prayers to the glory of your name.

Offer a prayer of faith in line with
Acts 1:8; Deuteronomy 26, 27, Psalms 40.
