Topic: Look up!

Scripture: Pay attention to him [Jesus] who endured such opposition from sinners against him, so that you may not grow weary and lose heart. -Hebrews 12:3

Look up… because in times like these, your whole life can depend on it.

Some time ago the Lord showed me that a spirit of weariness and weariness is trying to force its way into our lives these days through all the pressure and bad news that constantly surrounds us. He works to take our eyes off God’s Word by bombarding us with negative thoughts. He tries to make us look down to defeat instead of looking up to Jesus.

If you allow this, your spiritual person will lose control. And the Word tells us what the result of this is. It says that you will “grow weary and faint in your intentions.”

Jesus described it this way in Mark 4:19: “But if the cares of this world, and the deceitfulness of wealth, and the desires of other things, come in and choke the word, then it becomes unfruitful.” And since your faith is the product of the word, this means your faith will wither. Once that happens, you are doomed to disaster.

What can you do to stop this chain reaction of fatigue?

Look up! Fix your eyes on Jesus again! This reminds me of sporting events. An opponent who hangs his head is no longer a serious threat to his competitors. He can be defeated very easily. Therefore look up! Consider Jesus, the author and finisher of your faith! Consider Him instead of the cares of this world! Let the thoughts of God move you. Make His thoughts your thoughts!

Look up! Take your eyes away from the circumstances around you and focus them on your heavenly source. Don’t be afraid of losing everything. God is your source, not the world! He can care for you regardless of what is happening around you!

When you feel tired, lift your eyes. Hold your head up instead of looking down. God is above. Jesus is above. The devil is below – under your feet. Look up!
