Today’s Topic: Because of His Mercy

Scripture: He saved us because of his mercy, and not because of any good things we have done. God washed us by the power of the Holy Spirit. He gave us new birth and a fresh beginning. – Titus 3:5, CEV

Today’s Word
Before Saul became the apostle Paul, he was the worst persecutor of the early church. He went around having believers arrested and put in prison. Of all people, he didn’t deserve God’s mercy, but God doesn’t give us what we deserve. We deserve the consequences, we deserve judgment, but God gives us mercy. He even knows how to make miracles out of our mistakes as He did through His transformation of Saul into an apostle. The accusing voices will tell you, “You’re done. It’s your fault. You know you weren’t supposed to do it.

You pursued the wrong thing and you just have to deal with the consequences.” No, God is so merciful that He’ll take your wrong and not only forgive you, but He’ll clean you up as well as your mess. It would be easy to live guilty and under condemnation, to not expect anything good. Stay in faith. God has mercy for that mistake. He can make a miracle out of that mess. He did it for Paul, and He can do it for you.

Prayer For Today
“Father, thank You that there is no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, and that includes me. Thank You that all the things that could have disqualified and kept me undeserving were wiped away in Your mercy. I declare that I am forgiven, and I’m moving forward in victory. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”

Let God remove what is keeping you from the true you. Unforgiveness is keeping you from shining. Insecurity, compromise, anger are blocking the best you from coming out. Work with God. Be willing to change. We don’t have to be perfect, but we should be growing.

We should be better than we were five years ago. We should be kinder, more respectful, have a better attitude. We should be more confident, more secure. We should forgive quicker, overlook offenses easier. We should compromise less, resist the temptation more often. That means letting the chisel chip away things that are hindering our growth.

We all go through life and make mistakes. We develop bad habits; people do us wrong. Shame comes, guilt comes, insecurity comes. We don’t feel like a masterpiece. We feel condemned, not valuable. “How can I be successful? Look at how I was raised. I’m struggling with an addiction; I’m not that talented; I don’t have a good personality.” But underneath the insecurity, the bad breaks, the failures, there’s the true you, the one that God created.

The true you is the blessed you, the happy you, the successful you, the forgiven you, the confident you. It’s still in you. The beauty of our God is He never loses His vision of the true you. He still remembers the reverence He felt when He created you. Despite all the flaws, weaknesses, disappointments, He still sees the masterpiece. He still knows who you really are.
