Today’s Topic: Wait Expectantly
Scripture: Listen to my voice in the morning, LORD. Each morning I bring my requests to you and wait expectantly. – Psalm 5:3, NLT
Today’s Word
Are you in a waiting season today? You’re tempted to give up on what God put in your heart, to settle for less. No, don’t water down your dreams. Before the promise is fulfilled, you have to pass the discouragement test. When you’re waiting, doubt comes, saying, “It should have happened by now. You’ll never get well, never meet the right person, never see your family restored.”
This is when many people get discouraged and miss their miracle, thinking that God has forgotten about them. What you do while you’re waiting will determine whether you see the promise. It’s not enough to just pray in faith. You have to wait in faith, wait knowing that God is working, wait expecting it to show up. Every time doubt comes, turn it around and say, “Father, thank You that everything You promised is coming—healing, breakthroughs, abundance.” Dig your heels in and have some holy determination. Your attitude should be: “I will not give up. I will not let people, delays, circumstances, or bad breaks talk me out of what God put in my heart.”
Prayer For Today
“Father, thank You that everything You’ve promised me will be released in my life because You are faithful. Thank You that You hear my prayers and that the answers are on the way. I am looking for Your goodness and believing for Your favor today. I will not give up. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”
Thoughts will whisper, “You’ll never see your dreams come to pass. You don’t have the finances. All your family struggles.” If you let that negative stay and keep dwelling on it, those toxins are going to build up and create a stronghold that keeps you from rising higher. Instead, use the water of God’s Word. “Father, You said I would lend and not borrow, that what I touch would prosper and succeed, that I live under the open windows of heaven, blessings that I cannot contain.” That changes your whole perspective, from a “not going to make it”
Ephesians 5 says, “God cleanses us by the washing of water with His word.” Just like our bodies wash the brain each night, removing the waste and keeping the brain healthy, God’s Word will wash your mind and cleanse it from toxins: the doubt, the worry, the guilt. One of the best ways to experience this daily renewal is by declaring what God says about you. When you speak His promises over your life, over your family, your health, your finances, that’s washing away those contaminates.
That cleanses you from the toxins the enemy would love to have build up and create strongholds of bitterness, can’t do it, “I’m not worthy.” Instead of dwelling on the hurts and negative things that have happened, the way to keep that bitterness from staying is to say, ”Father, You said You have beauty for these ashes. You said You would pay me back double for the unfair things. You said what was meant for harm, You’re turning to my advantage.” When you speak God’s word, a cleansing takes place.
