Today’s Topic: A Heart of Wisdom
Scripture: Teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom. Psalm 90:12, NIV

Today’s Word
If we knew we weren’t going to be here in a month, we wouldn’t let the little quirk that our spouse does get on our nerves. We’d look at all the things we love about them instead of the few things that rub us the wrong way. We’d be happy to have another day to enjoy life with them. We wouldn’t criticize our boss or grumble about going to work. We’d be happy to have a boss and place to go to work.

A heart of wisdom reminds us that some people are in the hospital, some people don’t have a job, some people don’t have family and friends to love. So much of what bothers us is not worth losing our joy and peace over. They don’t really matter. Your life may not be perfect, but keep the right perspective. Number your days. God has blessed you with everything you have. He is on the throne, He’s fighting your battles, and He’ll get you to where you’re supposed to be at the right time. Enjoy today. It’s His gift to you.

Prayer For Today
“Father, thank You that this day is a gift from You, and I’m not going to live sour and defeated. Thank You that You’ve given me the wisdom to not allow what others say or do or what I don’t have to steal my happiness. I’ve made up my mind that I’m going to keep my joy. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”

God has given us all these incredible promises. He said, “No weapon formed against you will prosper.” He said, “I will restore health and heal you of your wounds.” He said, “Your children will be mighty in the land, that you will lend and not borrow, that your latter days will be better than your former days.” All these amazing promises, but that alone is not enough. God is asking you, “What do you see?” It’s not just up to God. How you see yourself, where you’ll be in ten years, your children, that’s what’s going to shape your future.

Sometimes, we’re too concerned about what people think. “What will they say? Will they have a good opinion of me?” We’re spending all this time and energy trying to perform for people, win people over, make a good impression, hoping they’ll validate us. We’re getting our approval from the wrong place. It was never meant to come from people, but from God. When you’re secure in who He made you, you know you’re valuable, talented, attractive, a masterpiece, then you don’t have to have all the outside validation.
