Joel Osteen Devotional 26 April 2025 Inspirational Message
Today’s Topic: Negative Chatter
Scripture: Whoever belittles his neighbor lacks sense, but a man of understanding remains silent. – Proverbs 11:12, ESV
Today’s Word
Everyone gets negative chatter. Not everyone is going to accept or approve of you. They’ll make remarks trying to humiliate and bait you into conflict. The enemy would love to get you off course, offended, trying to straighten people out and prove to them that you’re okay. Don’t get involved in battles that are not between you and your destiny.
Don’t make the mistake of trying to please everyone. Don’t get sidetracked trying to win people over who are never going to be for you. All that does is waste your time. Your job is to not try to make people like you or to try to change people’s minds about you. Your job is to run your race, to be who God has called you to be, and not worry about the critics and the naysayers.
God will cause the right people to be for you. Sometimes small-minded people will try to belittle you, discredit you, push you down. Don’t pay any attention. They don’t carry any weight. What they say cannot keep you from your destiny. They are simply a distraction.
Prayer For Today
“Father, thank You that I don’t have to waste my time and energies trying to prove who I am or change what others think of me. Thank You that I have Your approval and calling on my life. I declare that I want to stay true to pleasing You and You alone as I run the race You’ve set before me. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”
The Scripture says, “God inhabits the praises of His people.” He doesn’t inhabit complaints. He doesn’t inhabit worry, frustration, “Why is this taking so long? These children are getting on my nerves.” That doesn’t get God’s attention. But when He hears you talking about His greatness, praising when you could be complaining, declaring His promises when you’re up against giants, thanking Him that He’s working when nothing is changing. That’s when God says, “Let Me step in. Let Me fight that battle. Let Me make a way. Let Me bring promotion, healing, favor.”
Real victory is not when God does everything you like, changes all the negative circumstances, fixes all the people that get on your nerves. Real victory is when all that happens, but it doesn’t bother you anymore. You’ve grown to the point where you don’t have to have all that to be happy. You’re content while God is working right where you are, knowing that He’s given you grace, not just for the good times, but grace for the Gethsemanes. When there’s pressure, people that fall asleep, and doors that don’t open, and obstacles that look too big, your attitude is, “I’m going to enjoy my life despite what’s coming against me.”
