Joel Osteen Devotional 7th February 2025 Friday Message
Today’s Topic: Look for the Blessing
Scripture: Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. – Psalm 23:4, ESV
Today’s Word
David says, “The Lord is my shepherd. He makes me lie down in green pastures; He leads me by the still waters.” We like that, but then he adds, “Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death.” He is saying that the same God who leads you by still waters sometimes will lead you into the dark valley—a door closes, a bad break comes, a sudden loss.
You may not understand it, but if it wasn’t going to work for your good, God would not allow it. So don’t fight your valleys. Stay encouraged. When you face tough times, you have to remind yourself that God would not be leading you into that valley if that’s all there was—loss, defeat, too bad but you’re done. No, there’s a purpose for that valley. It’s not to hinder you but to help you. It’s not to hold you back but to push you forward. It’s not to weaken you but to make you stronger. Start expecting new doors to open, new opportunities, new friendships. Look for the blessing in that valley.
Prayer For Today
“Father, thank You that when I walk through dark valleys and adversities, You walk with me, and I have no reason to be afraid or worried. Thank You that You are my Good Shepherd and You have purposed the valley to work for my good. I declare that I am resting in You. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”
Psalm 68 says, “You sent an abundant rain, O Lord, to refresh the weary.” You may feel you’ve done what you can, but it seems like the discouragement won’t go away. You’ve fought hard, but you’re weary. You don’t feel like you can keep going. God sees what you’re going through. He knows how you feel. He knows what wasn’t fair. He’s about to send an abundant rain.
Isaiah said, “When you feed the hungry, when you clothe the naked, when you help those in need, then your light will break forth like the dawn and your health will quickly come.” Too often, we’re waiting for the light to break forth. We’re waiting for the promotion, the healing, the new level, but the question is, “Have we done the first part? Have we served anyone? Have we been a blessing?”
