Today’s Topic: Be Careful
Scripture: Dear friends, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world. – 1 John 4:1, NIV

Today’s Word
When God has given you direction for your life, don’t let people talk you out of it. If God wants you to do something different, He’ll tell you. You don’t have to rely on someone else to hear from God for you. Here’s the key: Everyone is not who they say they are. This is where discernment comes in. Today’s Scripture says to test the spirits. What is their track record? Do they have good fruit?

Are there other people who can vouch for them? Don’t get caught up in their charisma or how articulate they are. You have to go beyond face value. Listen to what you’re feeling inside. They may look and sound the part, but if you feel an uneasiness, an unrest, something saying, “It’s not right,” that’s the Holy Spirit warning you. Don’t ignore it. That’s the spirit of discernment helping you to know things that you can’t see. You can’t see motives. You can’t see intentions. But because of the integrity of your heart, God will keep you from making a mistake.

Prayer For Today
“Father, thank You for giving me the Holy Spirit to be my helper, my counselor, and my guide. Thank You that You’ve promised to lead me on the right path. Help me to be discerning of any distracting voices. Help me to be sensitive to hear how You are speaking to me. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”

INSPIRATIONAL MESSAGE: People all around us are wounded. They’re lonely, discouraged, they feel guilty. They don’t know how they’re going to make it. But when they see your scar, when they hear how God healed you, restored you, blessed you, that will breathe new life into their spirit. Are you hiding your scars, embarrassed by what you went through, bitter over who hurt you, ashamed of a mistake? God didn’t show you mercy just for your sake. Those scars are for somebody else. He turned it around because He knows He can trust you with scars.

David was the youngest son, the smallest, the least experienced. But God said in Psalm 89, “I have selected David from common people to become king.” You may feel common, ordinary, but you don’t know what God has lined up for you. God has already spoken to people about you, like Samuel, but they haven’t shown up yet. There’s going to be a knock on the door.

Your time is coming. Just keep being faithful. Keep doing the right thing. You never know when you’re going to get called in from the fields. Nobody could have planned this for Davids’s life. No circumstances said he would be in leadership, become a king. That was so far out. But God has things you haven’t seen, heard, or imagined. Uncommon blessings will come to you.
