Joel Osteen Today 4 JANUARY 2025 Devotional Message
Today’s Topic: It’s Already Planned Out
Scripture: Then the LORD said to [Abraham], “Know for certain that for four hundred years your descendants will be strangers in a country not their own and that they will be enslaved and mistreated there…and afterward they will come out with great possessions.” – Genesis 15:13–14, NIV
Today’s Word
God told Abraham that He had a four hundred-year strategy for his family. When the Israelites came out of Egyptian slavery loaded down with treasure, it looked as though God just suddenly decided to bless them. The truth is that God had planned they would be enslaved and endure suffering for four hundred years, but He would bring them out, turn around the injustice, and thrust them into their purpose in the Promised Land. It’s easy to worry about how problems are going to work out tomorrow.
Uncertainty can bring anxiety and cause us to live stressed and uptight. We look at things in the short term, but God has been working on His plan for your life for generations. Long before you were born, He’s been lining up what you need, arranging things to fall into place so you can fulfill your purpose. God was thinking of you hundreds of years ago, working on your behalf. Generations back, He was bringing everything into alignment—the right people, good breaks, solutions to problems, mercy for mistakes. It’s already planned out.
Prayer For Today
“Father, thank You that You have been working on Your plan for my life for generations. Thank You that I can stay in peace knowing that You are working behind the scenes and directing the outcomes. Help me to be patient and know that You are bringing me into my purpose. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”
TODAY’S INPIRATIONAL MESSAGE: Are you beating yourself up for past mistakes, not passionate about life, not pursuing dreams? The enemy keeps reminding you of those self-inflicted wounds: “You knew better. You blew it. It’s your own fault.” Next time he comes showing that scar, trying to make you feel guilty, turn it around: “This scar reminds me of the mercy of God. It reminds me that I’m redeemed and restored.”
Proverbs says, “Hope deferred makes the heart sick.” One definition of hope is happy anticipation of something good. If you’re anticipating something good, it brings you joy, it gives you passion. When you believe the best is in front of you, that God is working behind the scenes, arranging things in your favor, lining up the property, the solutions, that He has explosive blessing on your schedule, then you’re going to be excited about life.
It will affect your attitude, your relationships, your productivity. But if you’re not anticipating anything good, if you think you’re stuck, the problem is permanent, you’ve reached your limits, that will drain your energy, stifle your creativity, take your joy. You’ll just drag through the day and endure life. No, God created you to have something to look forward to. This is what faith is all about.
