Scripture: “It is the Lord Christ you are serving.” – Colossians 3:24
If you have a job flipping burgers at McDonald’s, it’s hard to look at your work as exalted, right? A stay-at-home mom who changes diapers, loads dishwashers, and haggles with an appliance repairman may look at her work as less than exalted. But think about the workers in I Chronicles 4. It says, “They were the potters… they stayed there and worked for the king.”
Back then, you couldn’t find more lowly labor than being a potter, elbow-deep in mud all day. But it says they were working for the king. And it’s always a privilege to be enlisted in royal service; to do whatever is needed for the king. Colossians 3 says that it is the Lord Christ whom you are serving. So serve wholeheartedly. Your diligence in your work has the attention of the high King of heaven.
