Joyce Meyer DEVOTIONAL 5TH APRIL 2025 TODAY’S MESSAGE
TOPIC: WAIT ON GOD
SCRIPTURE: Be still and rest in the Lord; wait for Him and patiently lean yourself upon Him…. Psalm 37:7 (AMPC)
I need to hear from God every day, and I want to hear from Him about everything. To hear God, we must be willing to wait on wisdom out a passion for wanting God’s will more than anything else. We will hear from God much more clearly is we are determined not to take action based on our fleshly desires or emotions. We will be blessed if we wait until we are confident that we have direction from God before we take any steps at all. Then we should do what God is leading us to do, even if it is difficult for us.
Several years ago, I started collecting classic movies because there wasn’t anything decent to watch on television. One day a magazine listing many good, clean movies arrives at our house. It seemed God had dropped into my lap an opportunity to get more movies. I got excited and decided to order about 15 movies. But then I put the order form aside for a few days and when I looked at it again, my emotions and excitement had subsided, and I ended up ordering only two movies. This is a simple example, but the principle applies to many areas of life.
When we act on enthusiastic emotions alone, we often make mistakes. I say, “Let emotions subside and then decide.” It is amazing what a difference a good night’s sleep makes in the way we feel about things. I encourage you to learn to wait. Emotions will rise and fall; and emotional energy will come and go, rarely leading us to the destination God has for us. God will always lead us to a good place if we will simply allow His Word and His wisdom, rather than our emotions, to lead us.
Prayer of the Day: Father God, I ask for Your direction and leadership when I pray. Help me wait on You and trust Your guidance and help me to know You will show me the deeper needs to pray for, amen.
