TODAY’S TOPIC: REMEMBER YOUR RIGHTEOUSNESS
Scripture: For our sake He made Christ [virtually] to be sin Who knew no sin, so that in and through Him we might become [endued with, viewed as being in, and examples of] the righteousness of God [what we ought to be, approved and acceptable and in right relationship with Him, by His goodness]. 2 Corinthians 5:21 (AMPC)
Believers who are living in close relationship with God won’t be constantly focused on how terrible they are. They will have righteousness-based thoughts that come through meditating regularly on who they are in Christ. Yet so many of us are tormented by negative thoughts about how sinful we are, or how displeased God is with us because of our weaknesses and failures. How much time is wasted living under guilt and condemnation?
I want to encourage you to think about how you’ve been made the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus. Remember: Thoughts turn into actions. If you want to enjoy the life Jesus died to give you, it is important to align your thinking with God’s Word. Every time a negative, condemning thought comes to your mind, remind yourself that God loves you, and that you’ve been made right with Him through Christ.
Know that as you’re walking with God, you’re changing for the better all the time, and His plan for you is more amazing than you can imagine.
Prayer Starter: Father, please help me stay more aware and focused on the fact that I’ve been made right with You than I am of my mistakes. Thank You for the gift of righteousness. In Jesus’ name, amen.
