Today’s Outline: MFM Daily Devotional 11th August 2020

When you honour God, God will honour you. Those who have no time for God will reap the consequences of their actions. Today’s devotional offer deep lessons. The story was told of a group of youths who were drunk and decided to go to a party. Then, they decided to ask a lady to accompany them.

The mother of the lady escorted her to the car and when she saw that everybody in the car was drunk, including the driver, she said, “My daughter, may God protect you.” The daughter said, “Since there is no space in the car, if God wants to enter into the car to protect me, He would have to sit in the boot.”

Hours later, that car was involved in a fatal accident. The car was crushed beyond recognition and everybody in it died. But surprisingly, the boot was intact.
In fact, not a single egg from the crate of egg in the boot got broken.

Beloved, you are warned to remember that outward religion without inward righteousness will bring divine woes. A lot of religious people are in the church. They attend all the regular and special programmes, but their lives have not changed. They do not really know the awesomeness of the power of our God. And yet, the Bible warns us of the awesome power of God. Once God’s terror is released, there is no power that can stop it.

If you study world history, read newspapers or watch the television, you would have heard the story of the largest ship ever built in the world, called the Titanic. After the man who constructed the Titanic had finished its construction, he was interviewed, during which a reporter asked him: “This big ship you have constructed, how safe will it be?” He looked at the reporter and said, “Not even God can sink it.” But, we all know what happened to the Titanic. It sank on its maiden voyage and many people died. Remember your creator, before it is too late.

HYMN: How sweet the Name of Jesus sounds

How sweet the Name of Jesus sounds
In a believer’s ear!
It soothes his sorrows, heals his wounds,
And drives away his fear.

It makes the wounded spirit whole,
And calms the troubled breast;
‘Tis manna to the hungry soul,
And to the weary, rest.

Dear Name, the Rock on which I build,
My Shield and Hiding Place,
My never failing treasury, filled
With boundless stores of grace!

By Thee my prayers acceptance gain,
Although with sin defiled;
Satan accuses me in vain,
And I am owned a child.

Jesus! my Shepherd, Husband, Friend,
O Prophet, Priest and King,
My Lord, my Life, my Way, my End,
Accept the praise I bring.

Weak is the effort of my heart,
And cold my warmest thought;
But when I see Thee as Thou art,
I’ll praise Thee as I ought.

Till then I would Thy love proclaim

With every fleeting breath, And may the music of Thy Name Refresh my soul in death!
