“Health is wealth they say.” I have discovered that often times the pill that will take care of an ailment often comes in a very bitter form. When the sick swallows the bitter pill, good health is achieved. Today’s devotional can be likened to the proverbial bitter pill.

A certain woman was rushed to me. On getting to me, she said that her husband had just thrown out her belongings, burnt her passport and asked her to leave the home. She gave me a catalogue of the man’s wickedness. I was moved by her story of woes. I requested that we saw the man together. Shortly before we got to their home, we saw her husband going out. Guess what happened? The woman pointed at him and said, “Doctor, that is him, crawling out like a snake.”

Then I said, “sorry, madam, if you can call him a snake in my presence, I wonder what you will call him when am not there.” The truth is that it was not the man that was the problem; rather, it was the woman’s tongue. All the secret sins that some of us are committing could be likened to a sleeping dog which will eventually wake up and be visible to everybody. It is difficult to cover a sin because you have to commit another sin to cover the previous one. And as this progresses, the devil drags you farther and farther.

For example, when Samson began to joke with his call, he told some lies. He continued lying to cover up his former lies until the Spirit of God left him. One man of God said that when the Spirit of God came upon the apostles on the day of Pentecost, there was a sound of a great rushing mighty wind, but that when the Holy Spirit decides to depart from somebody’s life, He would leave quietly.

Samson did not know that the Spirit of God had left him at the time he was captured. He had become what we call an empty barrel or an empty shell.

And talking about empty barrels, many are found in the house of God today. They are found speaking different languages, shouting and preaching. But as far as God and the devil are concerned, they are just empty barrels. Secret sins in a life which turn many to empty barrels, will constitute the root of many other sins.

Beloved, you must get rid of the little foxes that can spoil your vine. Don’t give secret sins an inch in your life; otherwise, before you know it, they’ll take a mile.

MOTIVATIONAL QUOTE: Men may applaud you and give you all kinds of awards but the moment heaven labels you a failure, you have gained nothing. Let your attention be focused on the score card of heaven.

PROPHETIC WORD: Big money, real money is coming your way before this month runs to an end and it will wipe out all the sufferings you have been going through.
