MFM Devotional for 2 July 2022 Saturday | Outline

Goodness as a godly virtue cannot be separated from kindness which is equally an act of goodness. God has shown us how to go about being good to our fellow men and how to show kindness from a pure and sincere heart. Being good or kind to others, believers and unbelievers alike, is not just for God to recognise you as His child. Rather, it is a source of blessing to your life.

It requires Agape love, that divine and unconditional love that provokes a man to be kind and do good. This further explains the intertwined nature of the fruit of the Spirit, one fruit with nine components. Today’s Fire Scripture is a scriptural exposition on the Christian life. Starting from verse 9 all through to the end, it instructs us on the dos and don’ts, especially in relating to others. By doing all these under divine enabling grace, you are known to be a true believer in Christ.

The question is, are you truly exuding the virtues of Christ? Do you have a kind heart? How kind are you to your fellow men? If truly you are for Christ, it should come easy for you to do good to others without expecting a reward. Remember the story of the Good Samaritan (Luke 10:30-37). The priest and the Levite gave flimsy reasons to ignore and abandon the wounded man. It was only the Samaritan who found it necessary to help.

This was an act of kindness, backed up with the spirit of goodness. Beloved, life cannot be lived in isolation; we need other people to survive. The Bible enjoins us to bear each other’s burden in order to fulfil the law of Christ. God is good, and He showers us with His goodness. We are expected to do the same, thereby demonstrating the love of Christ, winning more souls and expanding the Kingdom of God. Become the epistle for others to read. Do good!
