MFM DEVOTIONAL FOR 2ND MAY 2022 MONDAY

TODAY’S TOPIC: PLEASING GOD (II)

Fire Scripture: 1 Thessalonians 4:1-8

MFM Devotional for 2nd May 2022 Monday Outline

Today, we will consider two shining examples of Bible characters that pleased God. The truth is that, there are several men and women in the Bible who fit this description. Pleasing God earned Enoch an enviable place in God’s Hall of Fame and the Bible. Hebrews 11:5 says, “By faith Enoch was translated that he should not see death; and was not found, because God had translated him: for before his translation he had this testimony that he pleased God.”

It means that pleasing God made the Almighty to spare him from tasting death. Enoch had this great testimony; you should as well. Today, we may not know all that Enoch did to please God, but the Bible says that he walked with God. Through intimacy and obedience, he pleased the Lord. We should borrow a leaf from this. Apostle Paul is our second shining example of the Bible character that pleased God.

Right from the time Jesus converted him on his way to Damascus, Apostle Paul had made pleasing God, not men nor himself, his preoccupation. Galatians 1:10, underscores this point when Paul said, “For do I now persuade men, or God? Or do I seek to please men? For if I yet pleased men, I should not be the servant of Christ.” Beloved, those who please men at the expense of God are unwise and unqualified to be called disciples and servants of God. I advise you to be a God-pleaser, not a men-pleaser.

When Apostle Paul started his ministry, he made an assertion that all believers should learn from him. He said that concerning the instructions God gave him to guide his ministry and assignment, he did not confer with flesh and blood. That is, he did not subject his calling and assignment to a debate with any man or seek human counsel or opinion. He was focused on pleasing God. That is why, when his glorious ministry was going to end, he could boldly say that he had fought the good fight and finished his course and that a crown awaited him.

Beloved, if you please God, you will also receive the crown.

Memory Verse: Galatians 1:10 – “For do I now persuade men, or God? Or do I seek to please men? For if I yet pleased men, I should not be the servant of Christ.”

Motivational Quote: In life, you sometimes have to choose between pleasing God and pleasing man. In the long run, it’s better to please God; that is His commandment.

Prophetic Word: I prophesy that the Almighty God will make you a shining example of a God pleaser, in the name of Jesus.
