TOPIC: CONFIDENCE IN PRAYER (II)

Fire Scripture: John 17:1-26

TODAY’S OUTLINE: MFM DAILY DEVOTIONAL 28TH FEBRUARY 2021 SUNDAY TODAY
Yesterday, we established the fact that every believer should approach God in prayer with the faith and boldness that He answers prayers and is always faithful to keep His promises. Confidence, boldness and courage are inherent attributes of the righteous. We also gave examples of Bible characters who exhibited these qualities and succeeded in life and ministry, adding that you emulate them. Why do you need to have confidence in prayer?

Let us examine some of the reasons: First, you are a child of Your heavenly Father. Matthew 7:7-11 affirms this, “ Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened. Or what man is there of you, whom if his son ask bread, will he give him a stone? Or if he ask a fish, will he give him a serpent?

If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him?”

Second, Jesus glorifies our Father by answering prayers offered in His name. That is why the Bible says, “And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it” (John 14:13-14). Another reason why you should be confident in prayer is that the Bible assures that when you are living in the Father’s will, your prayers will be answered (John 15:7; 1 John 3:21-22).

Similarly, your confidence in prayer should stem from the promise of Father that if you ask according to His will, He hears you and if He hears you, then you have your petition (1 John 5:14-15). Are you living in God’s will? Answered prayer is your portion. Beloved, many believers have missed out on the rewards of their prayers because they lack the faith and confidence to attract those rewards to their lives.

Lack of faith and confidence is as good as unbelief and doubt. These are great robbers of the blessings that should accrue to believers in prayer.

Memory Verse: Ephesians 3:12 – “In whom we have boldness and access with confidence through our faith in him.”

Motivational Quote: Pray boldly. Pray expectantly. Pray specifically.”

Prophetic Word: Henceforth, your prayer will move mountains and change the world for Christ, in the name of Jesus.
