Read: Matthew 6:9-13
9. After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.

10. Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.

11. Give us this day our daily bread.

12. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.

13. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking. – Matthew 6:7

TODAY’S MESSAGE: The Bible is a comprehensive book that gives the correct template for carrying out spiritual activities, one of which is prayer. Unfortunately, many children of God dont read it and so they pray for years but see no results. A major reason could be vain repetitions: when they pray, they keep going back and forth on a matter instead of listening to what God has to say about it.

Some speak sophisticated words when praying in order to impress the fellow beside them in the church. Anyone who prays in that manner is not different from the Pharisees that Jesus admonished us not to copy in Matthew 6:5a which says:

“And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men.”

You can pray right, after all, prayer is a means of communicating with your Heavenly Father. So, rather than making vain repetitions, talk to God as if He is beside you, believe that He heard you, then, wait to hear what He has to say. You can also ask the Holy Spirit for help (Romans 8:26 ).

Holy Spirit, please help me to pray aright and not amiss.

Bible in One Year
Psalms 136:1-26, Psalms 137:1-9, Psalms 138:1-8, 1 Corinthians 9:1-27

Hymns: WHAT A FRIEND WE HAVE IN JESUS

1. What a friend
we have in Jesus,
All our sins and griefs to bear;
What a privilege to carry
Ev’rything to God in prayer
Oh! what peace we often forfeit,
Oh! what needless pain we bear
All because we do not carry
Everything to God in prayer.

2. Have we trials and temptations?
Is there trouble anywhere?
We should never be discouraged,
Take it to the Lord in prayer
Can we find a Friend so faithful
Who will all our sorrow share?
Jesus knows our every weakness,
Take it to the Lord in prayer.

3. Are we weak and heavy laden,
Cumbered with a load of care?
Precious Saviour still our refuge,
Take it to the Lord in prayer
Do thy friends despise,
forsake thee?
Take it to the Lord in prayer
In His arms He’ll take
and shield thee,
Thou wilt find a solace there
