Pillars connote dependability -ability to hold a building in place. In Gods house, pillars are those who bear the burdens of others. Just as physical pillars hold a building in place, so do those who act as pillars maintain unity in the body of Christ. Caterpillars, on the other hand, are destructive.
In the Church, they are people who sow discord amongst brethren through gossip and strife. They also tell lies and bear tales that stir up quarrels among leaders and members of the body of Christ. Never join this group, instead, be a pillar. Ezekiel 22:30 says: “And I sought for a man among them, that should make up the hedge, and stand in the gap before me for the land, that I should not destroy it: but I found none.”
God is seeking true pillars who will spend their time, energy and resources to bring the lost to the fold. He is seeking those who will prayerfully stand in the gap for others, speak words that will build them up and give full support to his/her spiritual leaders in various units of the Church.
Point: Are you a pillar or caterpillar?
