Our Daily Devotion For 17th May 2025 Message
Title: “God Sees the Heart”
Key Scripture: 1 Samuel 16:7 (KJV)
“But the Lord said unto Samuel, Look not on his countenance, or on the height of his stature; because I have refused him: for the Lord seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the Lord looketh on the heart.”
Devotional Message:
When Samuel went to anoint the next king of Israel, even he — a prophet of God — was impressed by what he saw externally. But God quickly corrected him with a timeless truth: He looks at the heart.
In a world driven by appearances, performance, and popularity, God’s eyes are searching deeper. He sees motives, integrity, humility, and faith. He’s not looking for the most polished — He’s looking for the most surrendered. David, the shepherd boy overlooked by men, was chosen by God because of his heart.
This is both a comfort and a challenge. You don’t have to be the loudest, the most skilled, or the most visible to be used by God — you simply need to have a heart that says, “Yes, Lord.”
Supporting Scriptures:
Jeremiah 17:10 (KJV) “I the Lord search the heart, I try the reins…”
Psalm 139:23-24 (KJV) “Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts…”
Matthew 5:8 (KJV) “Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God.”
Prayer:
Lord, Thank You for seeing beyond the surface. Create in me a clean heart and renew a right spirit within me. Help me to live honestly before You — not for the approval of people, but to please You. Purify my thoughts, my motives, and my desires. May my heart reflect Your heart, and may my life bring You glory.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Daily Declaration:
“God sees my heart, and I choose to keep it pure, humble, and surrendered to Him.”
