BIBLE STUDY: CITIZENSHIP IN HEAVEN (5)

THINGS THAT CAN HINDER YOU FROM GETTING CITIZENSHIP IN HEAVEN (1).

Bible Texts: Matt. 5:20, 37; 7:21-23; 12:36-37; Luke 16:1-3, 17; Rom 14:12-13; James 2:8-13.

“But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment. For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned.” Matt. 12:36-37.

The conspiracy by the Ananias’ family ( Acts 5:1-10 ) to tell a single lie to the Holy Spirit that eventually led to the death of the couple at the eve of revival in the New Testament was a rude shock to the church. No one in the widest imagination could think that a healthy family would drop death for telling just one lie.

Brethren,  it is only needful in this study that we closely examine the character of a  christian in the office, at work or at his or her duty post and point out those little things we often neglect that are likely to hinder us from becoming citizens of heaven at the end of time.

  • CHARACTER AND CONDUCT OF A CROOKED  “CHRISTIAN”

Gen 31:4-7; 41-42; Deut 25:13-16; 1Sam 8:1-3; Prov 11:1, 20:23; Jere 22:13-16; Amos 5:12; Mic 3:10-12; Hab. 2:9-12; 1Thesa 4:1-7, 11-12

Take time and read the passages above and point out those things we often neglect at our business places that are likely to stand against us.
We shall carefully go through some of the practices that occur on daily basis that are seemingly considered as being normal.

I.    Inability to deliver the job as specified in the contract terms or MOU ( Memorandum of Understanding).  1Sam. 15:2-3, 7-15

II.   Unnecessary and unsubstantiated excuses. Gen. 3:9-12; Num 22:7-12, 15-32;

III.  Taking up too many jobs ( perhaps, because of greed) without the ability to deliver. 2Sam. 18:19-30; Prov. 15:27

IV.  Lateness to work and writing a different  time. Roms. 12:11;

V.   Not picking calls when a client is calling or at best you pick and tell a lie about your position. Gen. 4:9;  1 Sam 15:16-23

VI.  Inability to maintain yea as yea and Nay as Nay especially  when the profit is juicy. 1 Kings 13: 7-10, 15-22;  Matt. 5:37; Acts 5: 1-5, 7-10.

VII. They are ready to abuse each other, fight and quarrel over a simple misunderstanding in  business transaction 1Cor. 6:1–2; Phil. 4:1-2.

VIII. Not greeting each other. Phil. 4:2; 3 John 9-11

IX.   Sweet to Borrow but hard to pay even when the money is there to pay back. Ps 37:21; Matt. 18:23-32

X.    Using different weights of measurements without the knowledge of your customer. Deut 25:13-16; Prov. 11:1; Micah 6:11.
