Scripture Union Daily Guide 10 January 2025 Outline
An adage says, if you pursue two rats at the same time, you will return empty handed. As followers of Christ, Jesus and He alone must be at the centre of our life. Our Lord does not tolerate rivals (compare Exodus 20:3). It must be, ‘God and God alone.’
And if our decision is to devote our lives wholly to God and become His servants, then we should trust Him to provide fully for all our needs. We serve a God of love who is always mindful of our needs. The only wages we receive from worrying are hypertension, stomach ulcer, mental breakdown, etc. Worrying is often a mirage.
By the time you get there you find that your worrying was unnecessary because the problem is non-existent. What is the solution to anxiety, according to Matthew 6:33? Jesus, in Matthew 6:43, is not against making plans. Worrying and planning are not the same. We all should prayerfully plan our lives and then trustfully hand these plans over to the Lord as we execute them (Proverbs 16:1-3; NLT). Planning actually helps us to worry less.
* Any new insight or reinforcement of what you already know?
Offer a prayer of faith in line with: 2 Samuel 22:40
What is my main source of anxiety? What will I do about it?
Closing Prayer: Read and meditate on Philippians 4:6-7 and 1 Peter 5:7 and do what they say.
