Scripture Union Daily Guide 13th March 2021 – God’s Song For Our Remembrance and Repentance!

You are reading Today’s Daily Guide Devotional for Saturday 13 March 2021. May the entrance of God’s Word give you understanding in Jesus’ name, Amen.

Today’s Topic: God’s song for our remembrance and repentance!

Opening Prayer: Plant my steps in the sure promises of your word today, dear Lord.

Sripture: Deut. 31:30 – 32:22

Question(s) for Reflection
• Is there any warning for me to heed? • What is God revealing to me in this passage?

Today’s Outline: Scripture Union Daily Guide 13th March 2021

Note that God Himself instructed Moses to write the song (31:19). Moses at 120 years and about to die was to hand over leadership to Joshua. This was a very solemn moment. Notice the assurances Moses had repeatedly given to Joshua in 31:3,5 and 6.

The faithful, loving, powerful Lord God is with His people through all the challenging phases and transitions of life. How have you experienced this truth in your personal life, family or faith community? Sadly however, despite God’s faithfulness, He knew that on the other side, the Israelites were going to turn to other gods, worship them, reject Him and break His covenant (31:20). How sad!

Today’s song was to serve as a reminder and witness against them. See the witnesses God calls upon in 32:1. He is the Creator God (cf. Genesis 1:1)! What else can you learn about God in 32:3,4,6,8,9,12 and 19? In this Old Testament song of remembrance, God is called, “your Father, your Creator” (32:6, cf. Lord’s prayer in Matthew 6:13).

Now end your devotional reflection today noting that God calls the Israelites “corrupt” (v.5a), “warped and crooked generation” (v.5b) yet, “sons and daughters” (v.19). What will He say about our generation? How will you respond today to this God’s song?

Practice/Word Application
• Thought: God advises in this song, “Ask your father…your elders” (32:7). What should we say to children and youths growing up in the “Ask Google” generation?
• Any new insight or reinforcement of what you already know?

Closing Prayer: Pray that God will help you raise a godly generation. • Thank God and pray for Scripture Union (SU), Children Evangelism Ministry (CEM) and other specialized ministries to Children and youths.

Prayer for the week
Pray for the sick brethren and those trusting God to survive. Pray for them to keep trusting in the Lord. Pray that they will live to fulfill God’s purpose in their lives. Pray for Church of Christ in Nigeria.

Offer a prayer of faith in line with Philippians 4:19

Bible In One Year: Job 20-21; 1 Cor. 7:20-40
