Today’s Topic: Have Faith in God

Opening Prayer: May the meditation of my heart be acceptable unto you, O Lord as I read from your word.

Scripture: Exodus 14:10-31

Question(s) for Reflection
• Q 1: What does the passage teach about God the Father, or God the Son or God the Holy Spirit?
• Q 2: Is there any example for me to follow or not to follow?
• Q 4: Is there any promise for me to believe or hope for?

Outline For Scripture Union Daily Guide 16 February 2023

Imagine you are among these Israelites, seeing the host of the Egyptians pursing you with their horses, chariots, fully armed. Physically, you are no match to the soldiers and have no place to hide or run to. How will you feel and what will be your reaction (v.10)? The people were greatly afraid and reacted badly towards their leader.
What are you seeing today? Violence, kidnapping, high cost of living, joblessness etc.

These can cause your heart to fail. Moses’ declaration in v.13 is for you. Fear brings torment (1 John 4:18). It stirs up confusion and hopelessness. It leads to lack of trust in God and produces failure. Thank God for this word of assurance. Read v.13 again. In times like this, we need the word of God. It brings hope, encouragement, and peace. Amid crises, it takes away our confusion. It stirs up our faith in God.

Notice what happened in vs.15-25. Observe particularly what God did. The tide of battle turned against the Egyptians, and they testified in their confusion that the Hebrew God was fighting against them (v.25).

Practice/Word Application
And so: Jehovah, the man of war, knows how to handle your life’s battles. Only have faith in Him. By His grace, all the challenges we face today, we shall see them no more because God will fight for us.

• Any new insight or reinforcement of what you already know?

Closing Prayer
Turn vs.13-14 into your prayer for today.

PRAYER FOCUS: YOUTH CAMPAIGN IN SCHOOLS

KEEP YOURSELF PURE
Do you not know that you are God’s temple and that God’s Spirit dwells in you? – 1 Corinthians 3:16

THANK GOD FOR:
► Reserving blessings for all His children who are pure in heart.
► Providing His word to guide us and our youths on how to keep our ways pure.
► Deliberate plans to take the campaign to the youths in schools.

PRAY FOR:
► The deliberately planned programme to affect the lives of the youths especially as it affects purity.
► Revival among our youths that they begin to thirst after God and His ways.
► Increased obedience to the truth as they sincerely seek God out of a pure heart.
► That our youths will not allow themselves to be used as political thugs and election box snatchers thereby terminating their lives unduly.

PRAY AGAINST:
· All forms of deception that make our youths act unnecessarily tough.
· All unwise decisions and actions that may eventually lead to their destruction.

Offer a prayer of faith in line with Luke 1:37 ‐ 38
