Scripture Union Daily Guide 16 November 2025 Outline
The Lord described Judah as a foolish and senseless people. Why (Jeremiah 5:20-21 cf. Psalms 14:1-3)? Spiritual deafness and blindness are Israel’s major deficiencies before God. List those things they were doing that showed that they did not fear the Lord (Jeremiah 5:21,22,23-24,26-28,30-31). When a nation lacks the fear of God, evil and all kinds of vices, strife and folly become the order of the day.
In Jeremiah 5:22-24, God used the creation to teach humanity the lesson of obedience. As the sea stays at its boundary, humans are not to go beyond their limits on life issues. Sadly, God’s people have not learned the lesson that it is absurd to fight against God. What, according to Jeremiah 5:24-25, are the penalties when we disobey and disrespect God?
Jeremiah 5:30-31 is a sad commentary on God’s people. Can you give examples of how this is happening in our churches today? We have been warned that in the Last Days, there will be false teachers all over the place (2 Peter 2:1-3; 1 John 4:1-6).
What Next?
In what ways can we combat false teachings in our churches today?

Adoration
1. Down in the valley among the sweet grasses,
Walks my belovèd—His footprints I see;
Haste I to follow Him, Savior and Lover,
How the winds whisper Thy dear name to me.
2. Know’st Thou I seek Thee? O haste to discover
The place of thy sheltered and fragrant retreat,
Where Thou dost rest with Thy flocks at the noontide,
By fountains of water, unsearched by the heat.
3. Now I approach Thee, O fairest Redeemer!
Lured by Thy beauty to dwell in Thy love;
Hide not Thy face from the heart that adores Thee;
Have I not sought Thee, and found Thee, my Dove!
4. Gentler Thy voice than the whisper of angels—
Brighter Thy smile than the sun in the sky;
Gather me tenderly, close to Thy bosom,
Faint with Thy loveliness—there let me die.
Closing Prayer
Oh Lord, open my eyes and my ears to know and confine myself within the boundary of your word.
