Scripture Union Daily Guide 16th June 2025 Outline

Paul and Barnabas preached to both Jews and Gentiles, sharing the message of Christ’s redemption. While some hearts were receptive and open to the message, others responded with hostility and rejection. Despite facing resistance, the disciples remained steadfast, choosing to focus on the joy that comes from fulfilling God’s purpose rather than being discouraged by the opposition. As we encounter opposition in our own lives, let us remember to find joy in knowing that we are fulfilling God’s calling, and we have the privilege of sharing the life-changing message of salvation.

The apostles understood that their mission was not dependent on human approval but on God’s sovereignty. When faced with hostility and rejection, they did not waver in their faith. Instead, they trusted God to be in control of the outcome. For us too, even when our efforts to share the gospel seem futile or met with resistance, we can have confidence that God is ultimately in control, and His word will accomplish what He intends (Isaiah 55:11).

Notice in Acts 13:49, the significant message with which our passage ends. Despite opposition, the gospel continues to advance, touching the lives of many. May the dedication of the early Christians encourage us to actively participate in God’s redemptive work, even in the face of opposition.

* Any new insight or reinforcement of what you already know?

Closing Prayer:
As we encounter challenges and resistance on our own journey of faith, Lord, help us to remain steadfast in our commitment to share the gospel with others.
