OPENING PRAYER: Make my life oh Lord a reflection of you as I study your word.
SCRIPTURE: Deuteronomy 33:18 – 29

Think of it – the very last recorded words of Moses, the man of God! He wrote the oldest Psalm in the Bible and taught us to pray the familiar verses, “so teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom!” (Psalm 90:12). It is worth taking the time to read carefully the pronouncements of blessing that Moses prayed on each of these tribes, first to see how they were fulfilled in the course of their history. God’s Word is true.
Secondly that we study these promises with the understanding that they and their conditions also apply to Christians today (2 Corinthians 1:18-20). Thirdly, that God does not give the same blessing to all His children. He blesses according to his eternal purposes (2 Peter 1:3-4; Ephesians 1:11). Read v.18 and note the significant difference in the blessing pronounced on the tribes of Zebulun and Issachar.
What can we learn from this? What else do we learn about the tribe of Issachar in 1 Chronicles 12:32. What do we learn about God in vs. 26 – 27 and the effect of this on the people of God in vs. 28 – 29? “Moses was faithful in all God’s house” (Hebrews 3:2). “Moses chose to be mistreated along with the people of God rather than to enjoy the fleeting pleasures of sin (Hebrews 11:25).
“Now Moses was a humble man, more humble than anyone else on the face of the earth” (Numbers 12:3) – more proofs that Moses was altogether the true man of God!
