OPENING PRAYER: Help me to understand the exceeding greatness of your power as I read through this passage, dear Lord.

Scripture Union Daily Guide 18 September 2024 Outline:
As a mother, I can imagine the pain of leaving such a precious child in care of the priest, ultimately in God’s care. What is the most precious thing that you have had to let go for God or in God’s name? One could only imagine the pain that Hannah had in letting go but at the same time releasing herself in worship to this God who has become even more real to her in her situation. (Compare 2 Samuel 24:24)
The blessing of giving the most precious thing in her life, not knowing if she would have another and being faithful to her word (the vow she made to the Lord), made her burst into singing. What would it take for you to be faithful in regard to the promise you made to the Lord at the most challenging time of your life?
Hannah’s song looked back at her situation; what she had experienced with her rival. She then rejoiced in the God who answers prayers. What does v.3 teach us about our response or reaction to people when they are in a difficult situation? Hannah looked forward in hope to the one who has answered her in the present and who also holds the future.

Closing Prayer
Spend time to worship God for sorting out a painful situation in your life or in the life of someone close to you.
Offer a prayer of faith in line with John 14:27
“Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.”

‣ His strength and grace upon our Regional Chairman, Elder David Ofiebor and his family.
‣ His grace to pilot the work up till this moment.
‣ His interest and commitment to S U work.
‣ His protection, provisions, travelling mercies as he moves around for the work.
PRAY FOR:
‣ The Lord will continually equip him spiritually and physically as he mobilizes the Regional Committee Members to move the Region forward.
‣ Divine direction at all times in the cause of discharging his duties as the leader.
‣ Sound health upon him, so that he can fulfill God’s mandate.
‣ His wife, children and all that concerns him for divine protection and God’s grace.
‣ Unity of faith among the Regional Committee Members.
