Scripture Union Daily Guide 18th April 2025 Outline
A strange darkness occurred for three hours from mid-day and the Father’s face was turned away, to show how terrible the sin of the world had been. The Man of sorrow cried out and then took a bow in your place. What a Saviour!
Many remarkable things happened thereafter. Observe these in Matthew 27:51-53. The curtain of the Temple was torn in two – allowing us free access to God. The tombs broke open – to deliver those earlier held captive, etc. The whole world stood still to witness the enactment of a new dispensation in Christ. And then, the powerful witness of the centurion testified of His divinity.
What a splendid drama as the Son of God emptied His all for you to have a place in heaven. It was love for humanity that pinned Him to the cross not just the nails (Romans 5:6-8). He died so that graves and bondages would release their captives, and so that we can be raised up with a new life (Ephesians 2:1-6). He died to destroy him who had the power of death and release all who have been in bondage of fear (Hebrews 2:14-15).
And So:
Jesus gave His life for your sake. What have you given or done for Him?
* Any new insight or reinforcement of what you already know?
Closing Prayer:
Father, I acknowledge this supreme sacrifice our Lord Jesus Christ made for me. Grant me grace to live for Him all the days of my life.
