Scripture Union Daily Guide 2 November 2025 Outline
Jesus came as high priest of the new covenant in the heavenly tabernacle (Hebrews 9:11). The earthly tabernacle was only a shadow and pattern of the heavenly one (Exodus 25:8-9,40 ; Hebrews 8:5). What made the ministry of Christ more glorious (Hebrews 9:11-14)?
“For this reason,’’ (Hebrews 9:15) means because of what Jesus Christ has done (Hebrews 9:11-14); He is now the mediator of a new covenant (Hebrews 9:15 cf.Hebrews 12:24).
A mediator is an intercessor; one who intervenes between two people (or groups) to promote harmonious relationship or to reconcile them. Christ, as the mediator of the new covenant, brings God and people in a new relationship (1 Timothy 2:5-6; 1 John 2:1-2). The old system was earthly and could not bring about forgiveness of sins and access to God. Now we have eternal redemption and inheritance because Jesus offered Himself as a ransom to set us free from sin.
To emphasize this point, two illustrations are given: a legal illustration (Hebrews 9:15-17), and a biblical illustration (Hebrews 9:18-22). How do these illustrations support the fact that, “without the shedding of Christ’s blood, there can be no forgiveness for sin (Hebrews 9:22)?
And So
Show your gratitude for Christ’s redemptive work through willing surrender to His will and loving devotion to His work. Make this your prayer for today.

The Promise Way
1. I’ll tarry at a promise
Till Jesus meets me there,
He comes along the promise way;
His words, so free and gracious,
I’ll take to Him in prayer,
He comes along the promise way.
Refrain
Glory! glory! My Savior comes to me,
His bright and blessèd light I see;
Glory! glory! He meets my soul today,
He comes along the promise way.
2. From sin I sought salvation,
And called upon His name,
He comes along the promise way;
O come, ye heavy laden,
His grace is still the same,
He comes along the promise way.
3. With every word He gives me,
I hasten to His feet,
He comes along the promise way;
He fills me with His Spirit,
He makes my joy complete,
He comes along the promise way.
4. When earthly blossoms perish,
And wintry storms appear,
He comes along the promise way;
He soothes my heart in trouble,
He dries the falling tear,
He comes along the promise way.
