Scripture Union Daily Guide 21st April 2025 Outline
The problems of insecurity and unrest faced by human beings all over the world in this generation have escalated to a higher level. Our heavenly Father instituted family and government in our world for our good (Romans 13:4a) but all human constituted source of protection and rest are failing.
The experience of the writer of this psalm gives us a sure source of safety and rest. How do we get these sure safety and rest (see Psalms 91:1-2). We are in an uncertain world riddled with traps and epidemics from our archenemy, the devil (1 Peter 5:8b; Psalms 91:3-7). It is only as we make the Lord, not our government, our refuge that we can have safety and rest from disturbances and protection from every abuse and disruption of life.
Take note of the great promises this psalms offers us, the first in Psalms 10-13 and the others in Psalms 91:14b-16. Note the conditions on which these promises are based (Psalms 91:9,14 respectively). Jesus Christ calls everyone facing troubles in this fallen world to come for rest (Matthew 11:28-30). There are unparalleled benefits if you can come unto this sure refuge.
