Scripture Union Daily Guide 21st July 2024 Outline:
Offerings were money or things people brought to the temple for God as part of their worship and commitment to Him. While some offerings were totally dedicated to God and used as burnt offering, the priests as God’s ministers were allowed to eat some. God gave Moses specific instruction on how the priests should treat the offerings His people had brought and consecrated to Him. They are to be treated with respect (vs.1-2).
Why did God give this command (v.2 cf. Leviticus 10:1-3; 1 Samuel 2:12-17,22 &29)? Having a careless attitude towards God’s offerings or craving for them for personal consumption or use amounts to profaning the name of the Lord and it has serious consequences.
Notice and reflect on some of those things that could amount to treating God’s offering with contempt (vs.3; 4-9 and 10-16). Are these principles applicable to us today in our worship and service to God?
Thank God that He always makes provision for the cleansing and restoration of His people (vs.6-7). His ultimate provision for our forgiveness and restoration came through the atoning death of our Lord Jesus Christ (1 John 1:7-10; 2:1-2). What happens when people become aware of wrong attitudes or practices in worship or the Church but do not do anything about it (vs.14-16)?

And so? Meditate on 1 Corinthians 4:1-2 and pray asking God to make you a faithful servant of Christ.
