Do You Know That? Daily Guide Reading is published by Scripture Union Press & Books Ltd, an arm of Scripture Union Nigeria. Daily Guide is a true nondenominational, interdenominational Christian Bible engagement/reading aid – meditate on the Bible without denominational colorations. May the Lord bless you as you study!

Today’s Topic: Alone with God

Opening Prayer: Oh Lord, grant me spiritual insight into the truth of your word as I study it.

Scripture: MARK 9:2-13

Question(s) for Reflection
• Q 1: What does the passage teach about God the Father, or God the Son or God the Holy Spirit?
• Q 2: Is there any example for me to follow or not to follow?

Outline For Scripture Union Daily Guide 24 February 2023

Jesus has just rebuked Peter sternly, even calling him Satan. And, just a few days later, He took him with others to have this special experience. Christ’s rebuke was not to destroy Peter, but He was seizing every available opportunity and occasion (positive and negative) to build him up. Rebuke when necessary but with the same purpose in mind – to build up one another.

The appearance of Moses (the giver of the Law) and Elijah (a major Prophet) confirmed the ministry of Jesus as the divine revelation of the Word of God. In Jesus, revelation received its finality, hence the voice from heaven: “This is my Son, whom I love. Listen to him” (v.7). Peter proposed that the team should camp permanently on the mountain so they can continue to enjoy the special experience. Our ‘mountain-top’ experience at camps and conferences should equip us for service in the valley of life.

Practice/Word Application
And so: Take time to stay with Jesus alone. Then go out to serve Him in your world.

• Any new insight or reinforcement of what you already know?

Closing Prayer
Spirit of the living God, fall afresh on me.
