Scripture: Numbers 31:25-54

► Q2: Is there any example for me to follow or not to follow?

Scripture Union Daily Guide 24th April 2025 Outline

We find in our text today that there was fairness in the distribution of the spoils of war. There was no discrimination against those who were not part of the battle; both the fighters and those members of the community who stayed at home benefited. Appropriate shares were also given to the Lord (Numbers 31:28).

What specific lessons do you learn from Numbers 31:26-47 about the way the booty and war captives were distributed? Conflicts in many parts of the world are due to unfair distribution of resources. The believer who may be part of such a decision-making should be just in his dealing and show a good example.

Notice what the leaders did after they counted themselves and none was missing (Numbers 31:49). They did not just obey the Lord to share the spoil of war according to God’s command but brought additional gifts as an offering to the Lord and the gifts were taken to the tabernacle of the congregation and served as a memorial for the children of Israel before the Lord. By their action, they acknowledged that their victory was solely the Lord’s accomplishment.

Food for Thought:
Has God blessed you abundantly? You must not hesitate to give not only His normal share (Malachi 3:20) but adequate offering in gratitude for giving you the strength to make the wealth.

* Any new insight or reinforcement of what you already know?

Closing Prayer:
Lord, give me the grace to appreciate all your goodness in my life.
