Outline For Scripture Union Daily Guide 25 February 2023

When Jesus sent out the disciples to go into the villages and preach the message of the kingdom, He gave them authority to drive out demons and heal diseases. They returned with great testimonies. Demons obeyed their command. Why then did they fail to heal this young boy? We must daily depend on the Lord for power to face the challenges of each day. The power of yesterday, cannot be relied upon to see us through today. It is the reason we must be people of incessant prayer. Without prayer, we cannot face the kingdom of Satan (v.29).

Jesus also rebuked the disciples for their unbelief (v.19). Prayer and faith are closely linked together. It is in praying that we demonstrate that indeed we believe in God to handle every issue concerning us. Prayerlessness is faithlessness. And fasting is an aid to prayer. There can be no rule about when and how often we should fast. Periodic fasting does provide an intensity to our prayers and can be a means to increase our faith.
