Scripture Union Daily Guide 25 September 2025 Outline

Job continued his argument to show his friends that their theology was wrong. Suffering is not always the result of sin and prosperity is not necessarily a reward for righteousness. Job had seen many wicked people prosper through cruel oppression of the poor and vulnerable, through fraudulent and unwholesome business activities, yet God did not punish them instantly (Job 24:1).

They continued to perpetuate their wickedness freely and God seemed to look away (Job 24:12b). For Job justice delayed is justice denied. What are some of the evil practices of the wicked that Job saw in his society (Job 24:2-12a,13-17,21)? How do these compare with oppressive and fraudulent practices going on in our societies today? We can easily identify with Job because we see all the vices that Job enumerated and many more in our societies today. The rich exploit the poor who work for them. Politicians steal the national resources and impoverish the nation, resulting in many young and vibrant Africans running to Western countries to seek greener pastures. Will God ever judge these wicked leaders, give justice to the oppressed and relief to the righteous? See Job 24:18-20,22-24; Jude 13.
