Scripture Union Daily Guide 25th April 2025 Outline

In the journey of the Israelites from Egypt to the Promised Land, they encountered various challenges. This included settling down in various cities with appropriate provision for their trade. They were majorly tending livestock.

This informed the desire of the Gadites and Reubenites to request to settle before the Jordan (Numbers 32:2-5). Moses did not agree. Read Numbers 32:6-15 again and note the reasons he did not agree initially. He completely misunderstood their motive as their request triggered in him memories of the evil action of the spies (Numbers 13, Numbers 14:1-4). Very often problems arise in leadership because leaders and those they lead misunderstand each other. To resolve such conflict, dialogue and communication must be kept flowing. Wrong assumption will always lead to wrong decision or conclusion.

Why do you think Moses insisted on their joining hands with their brethren beyond the Jordan before settling down? The body of Christ is made up of all true believers and we should be concerned with the welfare of the entire body. The suffering of Christians in any part of the world should be our concern. If any part suffers the whole body (Christendom) suffers with it (1 Corinthians 12:26).

And So:
By this everyone will know that you are my disciples if you love one another (John 13:35).
* Any new insight or reinforcement of what you already know?

Closing Prayer:
Dear Lord, I ask for grace to live a life of selflessness.
