Scripture Union Daily Guide 25th August 2025 Outline
There are two parts to this chapter. First, in Job 7:1-10. He seems to ignore his friends with all their ignorance; and so, he talks to himself. With all his riches and in his privileged position, in what way was he different from a hired labourer or even a slave (Job 7:1-3)? The slave grinds through the hardship of the long working day looking forward to the end of another pointless day. The labourer works all day longing for the end of the working day when he would be paid.
For Job, each day passes quickly but without hope (Job 7:6). As for the night, that is another matter! Have you experienced a night in pain, with toothache, for example? That is what Job describes in Job 7:4-6, only worse! His own waiting lasts months on end with nothing to show for it but still more suffering.
Then, secondly, in Job 7:11, he turns to God; and he pours out his anguish. See how he confronts God directly in Job 7:13-14. How would you answer his question in Job 7:17? He seems to have doubts in Job 7:20. Perhaps, he has committed sins, unknown to him. Even in this, he has the right attitude (Job 7:21).
And So
Do you have complaints against God in your life today? Tell Him about it directly!
