Outline For Scripture Union Daily Guide 26th November 2023

Our God is merciful and gracious. When He punishes His people, He does so to correct them so that they may repent; and then He will restore them. God’s anger is for a moment, but His favour is for life (Psalm 30:5). In this passage, God has made wonderful promises to the children of Israel. Check them out in vs.18-21. We all need guidance and clear direction as we pass through this crooked world and God has promised us guidance in v.21.

In vs.23-26, God promises rain for “the seed you sow in the ground and the food that comes from the land will be rich and plentiful”. God is not only interested in our spiritual well-being, but also in meeting our physical needs. When we are restored to the Lord, we will enjoy both physical and spiritual benefits from Him.

In contrast to these promises, there is God’s judgment and punishment for those who do evil. Vs.27-33 show how displeased God is with Assyria and other nations for their evil deeds. As we rejoice in God’s promises and provision for us, we must take heed not to displease Him by joining evil people.
