Seemingly, God was using the ordinary situation to accomplish His plans as He guided Saul and his servant (vs.3-4). To them, they were in search of the lost donkeys and needed to consult the prophet and seek help to locate the animal. However, God had His bigger plan in view. How else do we explain the visit of Samuel just at the same time Saul was searching for the lost donkeys? God was no doubt leading Saul and his servant. God leads in many ways to His plans for us (vs.11-14). How have you experienced God’s leading of recent?
Samuel was a prophet with integrity. He was not canvassing for a gift but generally within the community, people appreciated prophets and went with gifts when visiting them and seeking their guidance (vs.7-9). Let us be wary of ‘prophets’ who extort money from people in the name of the Lord. Equally, it is important that we give towards the welfare of those who labour in God’s vineyard. See 1 Timothy 5:17-18.

‣ There will be visible changes for good which will impact the nation and the people’s welfare.
‣ The Christian leaders will be determined to serve the nation in their respective positions as unto the Lord making a mark in their offices.
‣ The performance of these Christian leaders will be significantly above that of their unbelieving colleagues to the glory of God.
